Fade to White - iPhone 4 Back Conversion

Well, it's been far too long since the Koreanventor has been blogging. Blame it alcohol, or the 5 month busy season that comes with the life of an auditor. Regardless, I'm back in business. Topic of the day? Converting my black iPhone 4 to white...well, at least the back. I waited 5 months for the white version, and it never came. Now that Apple offers it, I decided to do it myself. Bought a $10 white back from Amazon. Came pretty fast, but unlike the reviews said, mine did NOT come with a screwdriver. Lucky for me, I have a first generation iPhone 4 which uses the phillips #00 screw, not the new torx screws Apple is using to discourage people from modding their phones.

That being said, I bought the screwdriver at Walgreens, it was in a eyeglass repair kit (mine was by a company called "Bolero"). I was a bit worried it wouldn't fit, but it worked out just fine.

Step 1, unscrew the two screws on the bottom by the pin connector. Step 2, slide the back up about a quarter of an inch, you will feel it unlock. Carefully lift the back, and put the white one on (in the same position where you took the old one off). Then, slide it back into place and feel it lock. Screw back in the small screws, and tada! Half-a-white iPhone. Don't forget to take all the plastic off of the backing, idiots online complained about the camera being blurry. Note to self, blocking a camera lens with a piece of plastic will result in blurry pictures.

All in all, 2 minute change, and it looks nice. Now we will see how long this thing lasts! So that, my friends, is how to Koreanvent your iPhone. See the album below for the pictures.
